Inclusion in Leadership

Inclusion Never Goes Out of Fashion

Corinne Mason, PhD·

Inclusion never goes out of fashion. It is not a trend, a reaction, or a corporate talking point. It is a timeless leadership discipline and a strategic advantage.

When executive teams actively reduce bias, they elevate decision quality, strengthen innovation, and build cultures where top talent chooses to stay and contribute at their highest level.

Breaking bias starts with collective awareness, not individual blame. The most inclusive leaders I've worked with aren't the ones who claim to be unbiased—they're the ones who stay curious about where bias might be operating, even in themselves.

Inclusion is also not a program. It's a practice. It shows up in who gets invited to the table, whose ideas get credited, who gets the benefit of the doubt, and who gets the stretch assignment.

In a moment when some organizations are pulling back on inclusion efforts, the leaders who hold the line will have a significant talent and culture advantage. The research on this is not ambiguous: diverse, inclusive teams outperform homogeneous ones—consistently, across industries, and over time.

Inclusion isn't about lowering the bar. It's about making sure the bar is visible, accessible, and applied consistently to everyone.

The leaders who understand that will build the organizations that last.
